Set a Realistic Weight Loss Goal
July 23, 2009
The question I often hear is "where do I start?” Well, the first thing to do if you want to achieve a successful weight loss diet, you need to set your goals. Setting a realistic goal is the first step if you want to burn off the pounds.
The realistic goals keep you to stay motivated. They will let you know where you have been and where you need to go. And there the important things to keep in mind when you setting your weight loss goals:
First, you must have short term and long term goals. For the example, if you want to lose 100 pounds, break it down into smaller and quickly achievable. You can begin with set your long term goal lose 50 pounds in 6 months (means you will be able to lose 100 pounds in 1 year), and your short term goal should be lose 5 pounds every 2 weeks.
You should write your goals down and always keep them nearby. With this way, you will be able to keep track of your success easier, and stay motivated when you achieve your short term goal. So, the key is in keeping your goals reachable!
You also need to stay away from any diet program that promises that you will be able to lose more than 5 pounds a week. 2 to 3 pounds a week is very achievable, and well within your reach. Keep in mind that you didn't gain all the weight overnight, it took time to put on those extra pounds. It's going to take time burning off the pound.
There really is no successful weight loss secret. We all have the ability to lose weight and live a healthier life. It is all up to you.
