Healthy Weight Loss Choice

August 2, 2009

We are overweight because of our unhealthy choices! Maybe we were taught our bad habits, maybe we simply pick them up as we age, or maybe we know what we need to do to experience healthy weight loss.

In today's society, when we hear about healthy weight loss, we immediately think about diets. And diets mean counting calories, who has the time for that right and this is not healthy weight loss. And some of us consider diets that mean avoiding all the foods we enjoy such as low-carb diets, or the Adkins's diet, which again is not healthy weight loss. Well, healthy weight loss does not mean starving yourself, nor does it mean that you need to avoid your favorite foods.

Healthy weight loss means lose weight with the way that is good for body, heart, and soul. Yes, there are many diet programs that will help you in losing weight quickly, but which ones are healthy, how do you know what is healthy and what is not.

The simple meaning of healthy weight loss is know exactly what you should eat in order to lose weight and of course a little exercise in your day. I think I don’t need to explain about the food you need to eat anymore, because I have written many articles about it at my blog.

And about the exercise, exercise is in an important aspect of healthy weight loss and maintaining the new lifestyle. The thing to remember about exercise for healthy weight loss is you must never punish your body or yourself. Means if you don’t like cardio or weight training, just avoid it, do the activity you really like. It means instilling good habits into your everyday routine and maintaining those healthy habits, after you have achieved the healthy weight loss.

- Help you to analyze what the right food to eat and wrong food to avoid
- Help you to analyze what make eat more than you should
- Help you to analyze what the best activities to burn more calories
- etc.

Ok, then how to use the diet diary? Check it out:
1. First page, write about your goal. Your ideal weight (use BMI to check your ideal weight), how much you want to lose at this week, month…
2. Second page, “Weight Loss Graph” (we will talk about it later)
2. Write all the food, beverage, and the snack that you eat each day.
3. Write the activities you have done each day. Your target is burn 300 calories each day.
4. Analyze it every night!
5. At the end of the weekend, time to weight. How many pound you lose or gain.
6. Then move it at the Weight Loss Graph you have made. You will see that if the graph will go down… means you lose pounds. If go up… well, analyze it again, what make you gain weight.

Losing Weight Without Being Hungry

April 27, 2009

Many people afraid to start the weight loss program because they don’t want to feel hungry. And a lot of them prefer to be overweight than to starve. Well, it’s that is a solution? Hmm, I think no. I prefer to start my weight loss program, do it for gain my ideal weight, of course without being hungry. What kind of life is it if you're always feeling hungry.

You should know that hungry means your body need to eat. It’s a signal that your body is in danger, need food to eat. If you not eat in that time, your body will think that you are in the danger of famine. Your survival instinct will active to protect you from starvation death with slowing your metabolism. And guess, your fat burn will also work slowly, not help you in losing weight.

I want to tell you that you do not have to be hungry in order to lose weight. Eating your meals and keeping yourself full will help you stick to your healthy eating plan and reach your goals. Keeping your hunger in check will help you avoid overeating. It will also prevent you from feeling miserable, frustrated and out of control. Here the tips for you:

1. Try to eat 5-6 small frequent meals as opposed to three large ones. If you wait too long for a meal, by the time the food comes, you will be starving and will not be able to control yourself. Eating smaller meals more often helps keep you full, and lets you be in control.

2. Don’t skip your meals, especially for breakfast. Some people think that by skipping breakfast or lunch they will save total calories, but the opposite happens. Because they go for too long without food, they end up compensating for it and then some later in the day. In addition, skipping meals slows down your metabolism, because your body feels like it's not getting enough food. So it activates its survival instinct and burns fewer calories.

3. Eat slower. It takes our body around 20 minutes to realize that it's full. If you eat too fast, you will eat unnecessary calories while your body is determining whether it is still hungry. By the time it realizes that it's full, it is too late, since you've already eaten more than you needed. If you eat slowly, your brain will start sending signals to stop eating just in time.

Losing weight in a healthy way does not involve starving or deprivation. That's why it is permanent -- if you lose weight in a healthy way, you're likely to keep it off for good.
